We are a fantasy wolf roleplay centered around three warring Kingdoms and the wolves that call them home. The wolf's ancestors; the Kingdom of Stars, are directly linked to the living wolves. They give Alphas the strength to lead for moons past what would have been their prime, and the Corvidae the ability to heal their fellow packmates through prayer. We are semi-literate, only requiring 150 words per post at a minimum! Please check out our Laws of the Land board for more information, and join us on DISCORD to get to know us better!
3.25.2019 UPDATE HERE! It's officially been a week since opening! We have added a Pup Prediction System, a Fighting System, as well as a huge update to our Shop! Congratulations to Rosa on Global Moderator, and Tali on Pup Predictor!
3.17.2019 A Falling Star has officially open! We are now accepting applications for all higher ranks, as well as applications for staff! Thank you for joining us!

3.22.2019 - The Corvidae for the Kingdom of Astralridge passed away without a Greenhorn to take his place. How will they cope?
A strong wolf scent had washed over the young wolf, a reminder that this land did not belong her. However, that scent line had been a while back, and much like the first time she'd come to this place, no one seemed inclined to stop her on her travels. Either that, or they did a poor job of guarding their territory. It mattered not to her - it was Ebony who so strongly wanted her to go to the tree, if they chased her of, then that was simply how it would go. It made no difference to her, beyond an inconvenience - but she'd take a little exploration of this strange mountainous place all the same.
Above, her honeyed eyes could catch the flicker of black movement that was her raven friend, but she didn't glance up at her to track her flight. This rocky landscape required the full concentration of one who was not used to it, and while she could heal herself well enough, even if she didn't exactly understand why - she'd still rather not risk getting hurt. Still, the flurry of wings made her half wonder what it was like to fly, and not for the first time. Ebony seemed to enjoy it well enough - perhaps she would enjoy it too. It certainly seemed interesting enough.
Just as the tree came into sight, her concentration regained, a voice echoing in her mind drew it away again.
'Lark, someone's hurt.' Frowning, Lark blinked, before glancing in the direction of her feathered companion. The raven wasn't waiting up for her, already fluttering off toward their newfound target, and the mottled brown wolf quickly swerved to lope in her trail, ears pricked and swiveling. She was used to changing directions on a whim, but it felt strange to veer away from such a drawing location. Still, when a patient needed her, they couldn't wait. At least, she wouldn't make them.
Just to be safe, she grabbed some moss as she passed. She'd rather not collapse from exhaustion in these mountains.
Sure enough, a snowy white wolf lay on some jagged rocks, one leg on an awkward angle. Where most wolves might have hesitated at a strange wolf, or cringed slightly at the leg, Lark went right up to the stranger, Ebony landing nearby to watch and grab anything her healing companion might need. After giving the stranger a quick sniff, ignoring his question of who she was, the female focused in on his leg. Already the bleeding was ebbing, but the bone was clearly broken. Considering her options with a wary twitch, Lark pressed the moss against the wound, waiting it out a moment before touching her paw over the break. The wolf winced, but at least he seemed to understand she was helping. 'Good. He's not an idiot, then.'
Taking a breath, Lark emptied her mind of all but a few select words, her gaze growing distant and her body tensing as she stared blankly ahead. The words almost came out robotically, a buzzing drone against her own ears, but she didn't move a muscle as she spoke. "Set fast, set true, let what has broken lie anew." Her paws glowed and sparked, but she didn't seem to notice at all. Even her raven stared on passively, before settling about preening her feathers. Clearly there was no concern in the raven's mind that Lark could fix this minor break.
With the prayer done, the young wolf swayed a little, before sitting down abruptly and giving a firm shake of her head, gaze drifting to blink at the stranger. Already they were trying to get to their paws, and she touched her nose to their shoulder abruptly. "Its healed, but don't put any weight on it - it'll still be sore for a while. Give it time." Her voice was firm, and while the stranger regarded her warily, he still glanced toward the raven, then her now perfectly normal paws, and did as she said. As though such things meant something to him.
'Strange pack wolves,' she thought, rising to her paws and turning, albeit a little shakily, to make for the tree. She could rest there, succeed in her aim, and then head away again out of this land. The wolf would be fine - he could just rest a bit and return to his home. However, before she could make it far, a growl gave her pause. Blinking in surprise, Lark froze, before looking back toward him.
"You're still a rogue, you're coming with me." Again, his gaze shifted to Ebony, and she followed it. The bird was staring at them almost knowingly, yet when Lark mentally nudged her, the raven didn't both responding. With a huff, Lark returned her attention to the stranger, and took a few steps back toward him. "Fine, might as well make sure I didn't waste my time," she offered, though the irritation was evidently false, and she couldn't help the curiosity in her golden gaze. Was this stranger going to take her to the heart of her home? She didn't know much about packs, really - if she'd been in one before the river, she didn't remember at all. Perhaps this was an opportunity to learn - and there was never any harm in that.
After a trek that felt far too long and far too difficult - the wolf ended up using all four legs despite her warning, and she honestly couldn't blame him - they came in site of the mouth of another cave. This one he veered toward, slower and slightly limping by now, and led her inside. Already her own paws felt sore, and she wasn't looking forward to a long trek through the dark either. What if she got lost! Still, as Ebony perched upon her back for the ride through the tunnels, Lark found a place obediently at his tail and stuck to it, letting him lead her along the winding paths.
They had better lead her out again too, because there were far too many twists and turns to remember.
By the time they stepped into a wider cave, Lark felt almost dizzy from the unfamiliar paths she'd traveled, and the addition of the entire trek on top of her bone healing prayer and the trip to the mountains to begin with had her ready to collapse. If they tried to chase her off their land from here, she would outright refuse. Perhaps if she just played dead, they'd leave her alone. As the wolf left her in the larger cave, others watching her whilst he disappeared into a tunnel at the back, Lark found herself uncaring of the watchful eyes. Her fur still prickled beneath all those gazes but the second Ebony was on a rock beside her, Lark lay down exactly where the wolf had left her, resting her head on her paws as she allowed her eyes and ears to track her surroundings. If they wanted to kill her now, she wouldn't be able to stop them whether she was on her paws or not. Best not to appear a threat to begin with.
The stars are very beautiful above the palace walls They shine with equal splendor still above far humbler halls
Although spring had come to the mountains once more, the Kingdom of Astralridge was far from being able to celebrate the break in the endless frost. Several moons ago in the heart of winter, they had lost their Alpha, and their Corvidae all in one fell swoop. It had been devastating to the pack, and Orchid had to be the one to try and revive it. Although things weren't exactly looking great for her Kingdom, Orchid had to stay positive - it was all she could afford to do. At first she had blamed the Kingdom of Stars, curisng their name and claiming that they had forsaken her pack within the confines of what was no longer her fathers den, but her own. She was quick to back-pedal though, realizing all too quickly that such thoughts would surely lead her Kingdom to ruin. She had to have faith.
So, it was faith that she had. She put herself back together and led her kingdom with the regality and grace of a natural born leader - pledging to her wolves that there would be an end to their suffering, and that it would come in the form of a gift from the Kingdom of Stars. Of course, she had no idea what that gift could possibly even be. But that didn't matter - what mattered was that her wolves had something to look forward to, something to give them a reason to continue to hunt and defend the Kingdom. The had hope.
Orchid sat on a group of stalagmites thats tips had been broken off many, many moons ago, and it's top worn down by those who came before her. It was this spot that every Alpha of Astralridge had called meetings from since the beginning of the Kingdom. It wasn't a rare sight to see the almost all-white she-wolf sitting here and watching her kingdom go about its affairs. It was a good vantage point, and it allowed her to have some semblance of privacy without hiding away in the tunnel that she called her den. If a wolf wanted to walk up to her, she would see them coming up the small ramp from the tunnel behind her that originated in her den, or they would have to approach her from below.
Amber orbs scanned the sanctuary floor, lingering on each of her packmates individually as she surveyed her kingdom. All seemed well, for today.
That was - until the unmistakable snout of one of her guardians came through the tunnel. She gave him a flick of her tail in acknowledgment, moments before watching another wolf follow him in. The Alpha didn't have to stand to her paws for the Kingdom to look intimidating, because each one of her Guardians slowly rose to their paws in unison, tails raised in warning. Orchid looked on unphased, not one to rise to anger just at a rogue entering her sanctuary.
Then she noticed the unmistakable form of a raven perched on the wolf's hind quarters. At this, she slowly rose to her large white paws and before the Guardian who had led Lark in could get to her tunnel, she gracefully leapt from her place on high down to the sanctuary floor. The Guardians parted before her as she moved forward, head raised high and tail raised just as well, ears trained forward toward the wolf in front of her. "Alpha Orchid -" the wolf who had led the Corvidae in greeted her, dipping his head low in respect just as Lark settled in on the sanctuary floor "- I found her traveling to the Raven Tree, but she doesn't smell like a Riverbloom wolf or a Sacredwood wolf. I had fallen while trying to catch a squirrel - and broken my leg. She healed me."
Orchid nodded at her Guardian, flicking her tail to dismiss him as he stepped out of her way, allowing her to approach Lark. Finally, she got a good look at the she-wolf - although young, she looked exhausted, most likely from having treated her Guardian and then having to had to trek from the Raven Tree all the way to their sanctuary. Her pelt was the same color as the Riverbloom wolves down in the valley, but her Guardian was right - she didn't smell like either of the Kingdoms who lived beyond their mountain peaks. She smelled distinctly rogue.
"Welcome to the Kingdom of Astralridge, Corvidae. Thank you for healing my Guardian, can we offer you a place to stay for tonight, as well as some of our most recent kill?"
The pack had been successful in the night before - a large elk carcass had been dragged through the tunnels before it was pried open for the Kingdom, allowing the pups and boneweavers access to fresh meat for the first time in moons. Orchid gestured to the carcass behind her, stepping aside to let the wolf stand up and head toward the kill. As she did so, the Guardians near her began to settle down, murmurs filling the cavern air. Orchid tried to contain her excitement and obvious happiness, though her tail slowly wagged behind her. A Corvidae had found them at last. Perhaps the Kingdom of Stars had not forsaken them just yet.
It was unmistakable who led this pack - a snow white wolf stood tall and regal, holding an air of obvious authority as wolves parted before her like water to let her pass. The injured wolf who'd escorted her greeted the female with clear respect, and at her calm reactions, everyone around them seemed to relax. Some wolves even went back to their duties, and others looked on with more curiosity than hostility now, even if some remained clearly displeased. In truth, Lark had expected a less hospitable reaction to her arrival here - not that she was complaining. No, she deserved hospitality, after healing that temperamental pack wolf.
Lark dashed her thoughts as the snowy wolf dismissed her newly healed packmate, attention drifting toward her in turn. The young wolf did not rise from her spot on the ground, though she rose her chin to blink up at the stranger, observing her just as the wolf observed her. Alpha Orchid, the other wolf had called her. She would have to take note of that, another confirmation that this was most certainly the leader. Not that she'd expected otherwise, and not that she found herself frightened either. This wolf clearly didn't see her as any threat - she had glanced at Ebony and started wagging her tail. Lark hadn't even thought she'd see such a day. Clearly this stranger had a thing for birds.
At Orchid's words, Lark frowned. "Corvidae?" she echoed curiously, confusion painting her face without restraint. She'd heard it whispered about her before, of course, and it held a certain familiarity about it for sure. However, she didn't know what it meant, and she couldn't remember ever having heard it before. Perhaps it was from her previous life? Briefly, Lark glanced at her feathered companion, but the raven gave nothing away, so Lark glanced back at the Alpha instead. "I am Lark," she offered instead, wondering if perhaps she looked like someone else. Though of course...Corvidae would certainly be an odd name. What did it even mean?
From the corner of her eye, Lark saw Ebony dip her head, and caught a sharp glance from the bird. 'Show respect Lark,' the raven told her silently, and Lark narrowed her eyes briefly at her, before drawing herself to her paws and bowing her head in gratitude and respect. Shelter and food to eat was the nicest offer she'd ever received from a pack wolf - the last Alpha she'd met had chased her off, after all. The one time Ebony wasn't there...maybe she shouldn't have gone without the raven - wolves around here seemed to have a thing for birds that made them far more lenient.
"Thank you for your kindness, I would gladly accept your offer," she offered, before suddenly snapping her head up and to the left as her interest strayed, one ear pressing back. Where her belly had previously threatened to rumble at the sight of the offered food, now such things were forgotten as she glanced across the cave for the source of what she'd heard. Near one of the walls was an older wolf, coughing where he lay on the cave floor. Lark didn't glance away as she spoke, but flicked an ear toward the snowy Alpha. "You have sick?"
The stars are very beautiful above the palace walls They shine with equal splendor still above far humbler halls
Orchid took her time inspecting the wolf while she spoke, and while the other wolf spoke in turn. Her eyes lingered across the wolf's pelt and her face, trying to determine how trustworthy she may be by her body language alone. It was very obvious that she was scrutinizing the wolf, her ears perked forward toward the reddish brown wolf. It was true - upon seeing the bird that traveled with the wolf, most of her packmates visibly relaxed. A Corvidae was rarely a threat to a Kingdom, and even if they decided to try and become a problem, the likelihood that they would be able to take on a Kingdom, even her weakened one, was very slim. They simply were not trained quite as strong in defending themselves than the Guardians were.
At the she-wolfs confusion at being called Corvidae, Orchid tilted her head ever so slightly to the right, one ear swiveling back in confusion. The wolf - Lark as she called herself - didn't know what a Corvidae was, yet had a raven companion? It hardly made sense to her. Perhaps she really was from outside the Kingdoms, and the Kingdom of Stars had blessed her with a Raven companion all the same. She assumed it was likely enough that it could happen - the Kingdom of Stars did have a strange way of going about things.
"I assumed - my apologies. I thought you were a Corvidae, based on your raven companion who is accompanying you and your ability to heal wolves," she said, lowering her voice a tad. Yet, the wolf surely had the power to heal, as her Guardian had told her. Perhaps this wolf just did not know what a Corvidae was called?
"My name is Orchid, and I am Alpha of this Kingdom," she continued, introducing herself properly to Lark. As the wolf rose to her paws and dipped her head low, Orchid offered a slight nod in response - properly accepting the bow as her recognition of her position of authority. At least the wolf knew to respect her, at the very least. Though it was appearing that the Kingdom of Stars had plans for them yet. Not only did they take away their Corvidae, but they presented them one with no knowledge of Kingdom life, or even of Corvidae themselves. Times were truly trying.
At the mention of the sick, she tried not to look visibly displeased, but her tail did lower in sadness. She glanced to the wall where the boneweaver was coughing. He had left the comfort of the Storyweaver den to sit outside of their vacant Corvidae den, not wanting to infect the pups with whatever it was that he had. The sickness from the winter was not done with them yet.
"Unfortunately, yes. The winter brought with it blackcough, and it tore through us viciously. It took with it many of our Guardians, and our Corvidae - our healer - as well." she murmured sadly, and at this, the wolves around them dipped their head in respect of the dead. One of the guardians even turned at this, ears pressed flat against her skull, and disappeared into the tunnels. It was evident that things in the Kingdom of Astralridge were not all butterflies and flowers this Spring.
But Orchid had hope, and that hope was staring at her sick, and looking to help. Bless the Stars.
An assumption. A common one it seemed. These Corvidae...well, she supposed she understood the confusion, even if she didn't entirely understand the concept. Though, she supposed it was strange she had a raven, and new these prayers and herbs she couldn't remember learning. She couldn't remember anything, though, she supposed. So was it a far stretch she used to be one of these Corvidae the alpha spoke of. Not in her mind, and Ebony seemed pleased by the way she was beginning to accept the term as fact. So, Lark nodded thoughtfully, glancing back at the snowy wolf as she realized almost too long had passed without an adequate response.
"If a healer with a raven friend makes for your Corvidae wolves," she mused, cocking her head toward the black feathered avian. "Then I suppose that simply mean I must be one. What a strange thing - though the river doesn't flow backward, so we can only just assume, and such isn't too far a stretch." Not bothering to explain herself, and ignoring Ebony's scolding look at her needless jabbering, she glanced around at the wolves, not caring as the alpha scrutinized her. She didn't like eyes on her she couldn't see, so she ensured she saw them.
A name. Lark flicked an ear - she didn't know why she needed to be told it again. Alpha Orchid. Orchid the Alpha. Did it matter what way it was said? It all meant the same in the end really. "Yes," she said promptly, absently, even. She blinked back toward the tunnels she'd been escorted through, and pictured the snowy peaks that surrounded them out there. "Orchid of the mountain wolves..." she murmured softly, just under her breath as her tail swayed just slightly behind her. What odd wolves living in the mountains. Though, she supposed she did too from now on.
She didn't fancy the chances of her being set free when there were sick wolves only she could heal. That wouldn't make Alpha Orchid much of a leader. Or would it? It mattered none to her - she had no intention of letting these wolves die, nor spending the night in the mountains. One was a guest until they tried to escape, and if they failed, they became a prisoner. She didn't fancy her chances of escape, and she'd much rather remain a guest. Besides, they seemed nice enough for now at least.
They just wanted to survive, like anyone else. She'd help to further her own survival, and just for the sake of helping too.
Sad. She wasn't entirely certain, but the way everyone drooped sure looked sad. Even the Alpha's tail wag stopped and fell. Perhaps she shouldn't have asked - however, it was a necessity. For a moment, she watched a wolf slip through the tunnels looking more affected than the others, before glancing back around the other wolves, one word clinging to her twitching ears. "Guardians...." she murmured softly, trying to make a link of what stood out about the broken-legged wolf that would make clear to her what this title meant. Well, she supposed it wasn't her problem. Instead, these wolves had coughs - blackcough was not a familiar term, but its symptoms drew about a natural instinct in her that send words flowing through her mind. She had to stop herself saying them before she even reached the coughing older wolf lest she collapse right where she stood.
"Blue berries and sweet honey...." she murmured softly, before shaking her head abruptly. "Herbs - do you keep herbs? I can heal with words but it drains and I'd rather sooth him before I speak them and rest so I know he will be better when I wake. Are there any others? Any hurt?"

Orchid watched the wolf before her ponder the large amount of information she was being given - and was worried. She would need to assign a guardian to help Lark become accustomed to pack life, and what that entailed. Absentmindedly she wondered if she could be the one to introduce Lark to all of the different terms and Laws that went with being part of the Kingdoms. That was, if the wolf even wanted to join the Kingdom of Astralridge.
Although Orchid was the Alpha of the pack, a natural born leader who had been given her rank through her rich lineage, that didn't mean that she was cruel. She thought that Lark could have been sent from the Kingdom of Stars to gift them with a new Corvidae, but she wasn't going to keep the wolf from leaving. She only prayed that with time, Lark would come to love and adore the Kingdom as she did.
It wasn't hard to love her Kingdom. Although the mountains had hardened the wolves into what they were today, she fancied that they were perhaps the most regal of the Kingdoms. Where others relied on brute strength to determine their ranks, their ranks were built upon two families - the family of Alpha and the family of Beta, who together had built an empire that the Kingdoms in the lower valley feared - and for good reason. Her wolves were strong, vicious, but also cunning and wise.
At the weird mention of a river flowing backward, Orchid raised a brow but said nothing of the strange ramblings of the Corvidae. It was typical. Riddles and rhymes were their specialties, after all. "Our Guardians are our protectors, our hunters, and our warriors. They are the wolves who have proved themselves through training to be worthy of the title," she explained briefly and swiftly, turning on one paw and gracefully walking toward the Corvidae's den, flicking her tail for the wolf to follow her as she spoke. Before her, the surrounding wolves finally broke and began to attend to their daily tasks. Although some still lingered on the sidelines, it appeared that they were willing to let the Alpha walk Lark through the sanctuary without issue.
"We are lucky enough to not have had anyone hurt aside from a few scratched up paw pads from the rough mountains, but we haven't been able to shake the sickness that has lasted since winter. Our late Corvidae's - our healer's - den is here," she started, coming closer to the sick wolf. "I'm not sure what Corvidae Cinder left in the den, or what is still of use - but she only passed two moons ago. There should be somethings still that you can use."
Orchid paused outside of the Corvidae's den, dipping her head to the Boneweaver that sat outside respectfully. "This is Yew. His rank is Boneweaver - they are our elders, our storytellers, those who have worked tirelessly as Guardians and are now getting some well-deserved rest," she explained this quietly, "Yew, this is Lark." Yew dipped his head and immediately began coughing anew, curling in on himself. "Pleasure to meet you Corvidae Lark, the Kingdom of Stars has blessed us with your presence." the old man coughed out the words, his voice raspy. Orchid looked on, pleased.
Whether or not Lark noticed the strange look she got from the Alpha female, she didn't acknowledge it. Instead, her ears pricked to curiously listen to the new words given to her, new explanations. Hunters and protectors. Rather than repeating the words aloud like a quiet parrot, she simply nodded and gave a slight sway of her tail, pleased with the explanation. The wolf who broke his leg had been hunting, and many of the other wolves had looked ready to spring into defense when she'd arrived - even if they were more relaxed now than before.
As Orchid turned away on graceful paws with a gesture to follow, Lark cast a glance toward Ebony. The bird nodded, a gleaming eye cast toward the snowy Alpha, before settling about preening the feathers of her right wing. Clearly, she had no intention to follow. Well, fair enough, Lark supposed. With her own kind of weary grace that certainly didn't match up the the regality of the Alphess, the young healer trailed after her, ears drifting to catch more words as she spoke.
The Corvidae had been called Cinder and had died of a sickness, why hadn't she healed herself? Odd wolf. Maybe she didn't know the right words. Still, there were other matters to attend - what was the use of worrying about the past, she'd never be asking the gone wolf her reasoning for letting herself die, or why she could not prevent it. She could, however, find some herbs. Two moons would surely kill most herbs without proper care and sorting. Yet honey was surely special indeed, and the berries...well, they lasted well enough from what she figured, longer than leaves anyway.
"They'll be well enough," she assured with a nod. That was, if there were any.
Soon she was directed to the sick wolf, who greeted her with sputtering coughs and spittle flying at her muzzle. She wrinkled her nose - his breath was sour and wheezing in his lungs, wracking his body. "Yes, very well," she said, dipping her head in subtle response to the old male, before brushing past him into the den, nose already lowering to the ground to sniff out any herbs of use. Honey's sweet scent was the easiest to find, even though there was little of it, and the little blue berries were thankfully still useable, if not as fresh as she would prefer. Well, she was lucky to find anything in these unforgiving mountains.
Though, it would seem they were still somewhat forgiving to these wolves - if only a little.
