Alpha of Astralridge

The sun had long since set in the Kingdoms, the fiery ball of heat sinking beneath the mountains they called home and plunging their world into darkness. Within a few heartbeats, the stars began to speckle the sky, and eventually, the world that Orchid called home was once again lit - this time in soft blues and dark purples as the stars shone brightly down on the wolves that called the mountains home, and the moon rose quickly into center stage.

Orchid had been traveling for some time, having left their cozy sanctuary as the sun began to set on the mountains, and traversed them as the stones turned from dull grey, to bright red, and then dark purple. The Alpha did her best thinking while moving, while doing something - anything. So more often than not, she would travel to the highest ridge that they called home. The landmark that gave her Kingdom its name - Astral ridge. 

It was so named because of its closeness to their ancestors, yet also for the wonderful light shows that the sky played on clear nights. Tonight was no such night - swift grey clouds traveling over the sky ahead hid and exposed the stars as they passed by. Orchid's wide paws gripped onto the rocks below her, muscles bunching and flexing as she pulled herself over the mountainous landscape with ease, her white fur standing out in sharp contrast to her darkening surroundings. 

Although Orchid may have been walking along the mountainous path, the Alpha's mind was somewhere else entirely - it was with her Father, her Mother, her packmates in the sky - on the Kingdom of Stars. Had they forsaken her Kingdom? Had they done something to warrant such blatant attacks? Rounded ears slowly rotated backward as she continued her trek forward, almost reaching the summit. Then they insulted her with a Corvidae that doesn't even know what a Corvidae was. How was she supposed to maintain the health of her Kingdom without a Corvidae? She shook her head in anger - pulling herself up the last ledge and finally onto the small area on top of the summit that had been worn down by the many pawsteps that came before her. 

Slowly, she sat down and pulled her tail closer, head tilting upward to the Kingdom of Stars slowly, "Just what exactly do you have in mind for us, Grandfather?"
