→ appearance ←
Bear has always been a monster of a wolf. She is built entirely for strength and stamina, slow and unable to keep up with most other wolves. From the tip of her nose to the base of her tail, she measures in at six feet, and tops the charts at nearly three feet at her shoulder. A barrel-like chest enables her to run great distances, and each step sends corded muscles rippling beneath her skin.
Her fur is woven from the night sky, so black as to be colorless. For the most part, she is entirely monochrome - a slightly darker nose tops her muzzle, and her fur is rarely flecked with white stars. Black outlines rotten egg-yolk yellow eyes, fierce and keen, and they never stop moving, constantly taking in her surroundings. It isn't uncommon for her face to twist, and warp, muzzle crinkling as it pulls back to reveal sharp fangs, eyes becoming dark and cruel, shark-like and bloodthirsty.
When Bear moves, she comes to life. Thick, corded muscles ripple beneath gleaming fur, flecks of white fur showing as they're hit by the sun like shining stars. Her voice is soft and raspy, often emphasizing words and cracking on occasion.

Family-oriented ― Overly-Loyal ― Insecure
Loyal? No, that's not a strong enough word for this wolf. There probably isn't a strong enough word for how loyal Bear is. To anyone who she counts as family, who is pack, she would give her life for - she is their guardian, their soldier, their sister, their daughter, their slave. Anything they ask her to do, she will do it - of course, within reason. She will bring them food, scratch their itches, groom their fur, watch their pups. Bear won't, however, harm another Pack member, or barge into another Pack's territory without the Alpha's order.
Unfortunately, perhaps Bear is a bit too loyal. She is incredibly easily manipulated by someone inside of her Pack, wanting nothing more than to make them happy. It isn't uncommon for her to find herself torn, trying desperately to make a pair of wolves happy that, really, can't be made happy as they have conflicting interests; but you can bet she'll do everything she can to try! Even if it's to her detriment.
Bear is a strong wolf, and she knows it. A Guardian, she isn't afraid to throw her weight around. In fact, she prefers it - so long as her teeth aren't tearing the flesh of her Packmates. If she is asked to, she will, of course, but she would rather use her weight to stop infighting, bowling fighting wolves over with a rushing run, or tugging them away with a grabbed tail.
However, when it comes to outsiders, all bets are off. So long as she isn't explicitly told otherwise, she is quite eager to use her fangs and tear flesh, even to kill if they won't stand down. She revels in a good fight, in throwing a wolf down beneath her and making them realize they've made a massive mistake in messing with her family. And, well, she is quite good at finding loopholes. "Chase them off"? Well, you never explicitly said 'don't hurt them' and if she gives them a few scares, they'll remember not to come near! She's just trying to help, after all.
→ history ←
Bear was born to a Rogue and - well - she supposes that's where it all started.
She doesn't remember her parents much, couldn't say what their names were, how many siblings she had. Where she was born or where she grew up. They are little more than vague memories, shadows that dance at the corners of her eyes if she tries particularly hard to remember--although those attempts are few and far between. She views it as a betrayal to those who took her in when they didn't have to.
No one really knows how she got separated from her parents - even her. She doesn't know if something happened to them - if they got hurt, or died, or if they just lost her. All she knows is that a member of her pack found her wandering one day, and brought her back to Riverbloom. And so she became a Packmember. She was so young that she was given to a Denmother, and raised as one of them, but she was well aware that she wasn't born to them.
Her Denmother named her Ivy, but the name didn't stick for long. By the time she had become a Greenhorn (and oh, what a proud day that was!) she had earned the nickname Bear, and it soon spread. Many wolves now, those who were born after she became a Greenhorn, don't even know her 'real' name. The moment she became a Greenhorn, she threw herself into it headfirst, working as hard as she could. Despite having spent more time in the pack than she had out of it, she felt she had to prove herself, and was desperate to do so. She worked herself to the bone, learning as much as she could, and she still views the day she became a Guardian as one of the greatest in her life.
And even once she became a Guardian, she didn't allow herself to rest. She had to work, continue to prove herself, to pay back her family. Bear had long become Loyal(tm), and so she worked even harder than she had as a Greenhorn. Having grown into her massive paws (as she had been a particularly puny pup, with comically huge paws), she was eager to throw her weight around, to put her natural born skills to good use.
